Mykonos is a shining Cycladic island, brimming with local charm and incredible beaches, but it is so much more than that. Mykonos is a legend!

Discovered by the rich and the famous in the 1960s, when it was just a simple fishing community, Mykonos is today one of the most famous destinations in the world, and it certainly lives up to its name! Its cosmopolitan allure can only be matched with its pure beauty: whitewashed houses against the blue of the sky and the sea, quaint balconies filled with flowers, stone-paved alleys with bougainvillea trees, pretty little churches and the characteristic windmills, this is traditional Cycladic architecture at its best.

The Chora is sizzling with life and joie de vivre. Foreigners and Greeks, VIPs and paparazzi, artists, college students, tourists, parents, lovers, this is where they all come together. Everything is a unique experience here: exploring the narrow streets, enjoying drinks and the sunset at the stunning Little Venice area, eating at a Greek taverna or the hottest restaurant chains, shopping for pretty much everything that’s cool, or just partying – and partying is really what Mykonos does best! The nightlife of the island is legendary!

During the day, all the fun moves to the beach! The visitors can have their pick of gorgeous sandy beaches with crystal clear waters, luxury service, strawberry daiquiris, and beach party atmosphere: Paradise and Super Paradise, PsarouPlatis Yalos, Elia, Kalo Livadi, Kalafatis, Lia. Those who opt for more calm and family friendly atmosphere can also find what they are looking for at the beaches of Agrari, Agia Anna, Choulakia, and Panormos among others.

Things to do:

  • Visit the neighbourhood of «Little Venice» in Chora, a charming 18th century district of adorable buildings with colorful balconies perched over the water – hence the name!
Locate the island’s mascot, Petros the pelican; he usually hangs by the old port!
  • Explore Ano Mera, the other traditional village of the island. Visit the beautiful central square and the Monastery of Panagia Tourliani. Combine the walk with dinner at a local meat grill! It is great alternative to the crowded evenings of the Chora.
  • Take a day trip to Delos! The sacred island of ancient Greece was the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis according to mythology. Today it is an extraordinary archaeological site, on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, and a memorable visit!
